The restaurant has been around since 1980, but it is not too late for it to shine. The menu ranges from familiar classic fare (prawn cocktails and a caesar salad) to sophisticated dishes such as grilled figs wrapped in proscuitto with goat's cheese, or seared salmon with pickled cucumber salad and wasabi hollandaise. The restaurant is also justifiably proud of their steaks - aged New England chargrilled beef. Best of all, this fancy fare is comes at pub-cheap prices. With an airy ambience and comfy chairs, The Column is ideal for long, languid (and liquid) lunches that stretch well into the afternoon - proving that this restaurant has more in common with the adjoining bar than most supposed. | | | | | | Paul Butler | Modern Australian | Entrees: $9.00 - $15.00 Main cost: $20.00 - $26.00 Desserts cost: $10.50 - $14.00
